Age Policy
With such a multicultural environment at Oxford Royale Academy’s summer school programmes, we realise that our students are likely to be at slightly different stages of their education. We therefore have the following age policies, and hope they are sufficiently flexible to ensure that all students enrol on the right programme. If you have any questions, please contact us.
Summer Schools for ages 13-15 in Oxford, Cambridge and Yale: Students must be aged 13 to 15 on the arrival date of the earliest session they wish to attend.
Summer Schools for ages 16-18 in Oxford, Cambridge, London and Yale: Students must be aged 16 to 18 on the arrival date of the earliest session they wish to attend.
Oxford Summer School for Adults (19+): Students must be aged 19 or over on the arrival date of the earliest session they wish to attend.
English Language Requirements
In general, a basic command of the English language is required for all courses, both for safety reasons and to ensure an enjoyable programme. For that reason, we are unable to accept students who cannot speak any English. Our requirements for different courses and age groups are as follows:
Summer Schools for ages 13-18
- Students attending an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) course must have an English level of B1 or above on the CEFR (or equivalent)
- Students attending any other course must have an English level of C1 or above on the CEFR (or equivalent)
Oxford Summer School for Adults (ages 19+)
- Students attending an English as a Foreign Language (EFL) course must have an English level of B1 or above on the CEFR (or equivalent)
- Students attending any other course must have an English level of C1 or above on the CEFR (or equivalent)
General Requirements
- Students attending an Oxford Royale on-campus Summer School must be able to fulfill the basic requirements of the programme, in terms of personal care, attendance at lessons, meals and events.
- Regarding academic prerequisites, students should check the details of each course or study option they choose, to ensure they possess the necessary knowledge to benefit from the subject matter discussed in the classes (although please note that the majority of courses are designed to cover the range of knowledge levels from beginner to advanced).
- Oxford Royale Academy is committed to a culture of inclusion for students with disabilities. This includes the accessibility of the accommodation sites, teaching sites, and sites at which our extracurricular activities take place. Our team is very happy to discuss any individual requirements regarding accessibility, to ensure that students and their parents feel confident that they will be able to make the most of their study experience with us. You can read more about the accessibility of our host venues here.
