Academic writing skills are vital for university study.

Students taking Broadening Horizons in sessions 3, 4 and 5 will have the option of studying Academic Writing Skills, an afternoon workshop designed to help students work on a range of writing skills, from essay planning and construction, to peer-reviewing and academic writing conventions.
The workshop covers both humanities and science writing, and is suitable for native and non-native English speakers alike. It will be available in both St Hugh’s College and St Catherine’s College.
Discussion, collaboration and the sharing of feedback will be central to this workshop, enabling students to learn from one another as well as from our expert faculty. It has been designed to complement and build on the skills students will learn in their Broadening Horizons morning classes.
Students will be required to have an English level of C1 or above in order to take this workshop. Those with a lower English level may wish to consider our Academic Writing with IELTS Preparation programme, which is a programme entirely focused on academic writing and English language skills, and which is suitable for students with B2 level English and above.
