With students of 150 different nationalities attending Oxford Royale Academy’s summer school programmes, your time in London will be an incredible opportunity to learn, improve and practice your English in an international setting.
A hurdle for many students to overcome when learning a language is simply having the confidence to use it, even at the risk of making mistakes. You’ll improve your language skills much faster if you take a chance and learn how to work around pieces of vocabulary or grammatical structures that you don’t know, rather than staying quiet and not trying at all.
That’s why, on Oxford Royale Academy English language programmes, we focus not only on improving students’ language skills, but also on growing their confidence.
When you study English with us in London, you’ll be encouraged and supported to speak up in class, and if you make mistakes, to learn from them, rather than being penalised for them.
We encourage our students to share ideas, draw on their own experiences, and learn from one another as well as from their teacher. This makes for a lively, immersive classroom environment where you can make rapid progress in communicating in the English language.

Oxford Royale Academy teachers come from a wide variety of different backgrounds, but all are highly qualified in the teaching of English as a Foreign Language (EFL), following British Council standards.
Because our students come from so many different countries with varying educational experiences, differentiation and teaching for different learning styles is of paramount importance for our staff, and therefore these techniques form a key pillar of the training they receive.
Our teachers are passionate not only about students improving their English rapidly and feeling more confident in their abilities, but about ensuring that they enjoy themselves while they learn.
Our EFL programmes are taught immersively; the only language spoken is English.
Because our programmes are so diverse, it’s possible you won’t be studying alongside anyone who speaks your first language – which means that socialising, activities, excursions and parties all represent opportunities to practise your English. Because you’ll be having fun with your new friends while you do it, this will improve your English without feeling like work at all.
When you go out into London, for instance, to do some shopping, you’ll also hear the wide variety of English that is spoken in the capital city, so you can get to grips with different accents, idioms and pronunciation.
Writing academic texts in English can be quite different to academic writing in other languages, so our programmes help you learn how to write essays in English or answer university interview questions in the appropriate register.
At the same time, you’ll have the opportunity to learn idiomatic, colloquial English of the kind that a native English speaker of your age would use. Often, non-native English speakers whose English is very good nonetheless stand out because their English is too formal, or inappropriately colloquial, so this will help you to get the balance right.
Are you considering studying at one of London’s many world-leading universities, or perhaps working at global company based in London after graduation?
If so, joining one of our EFL programmes in London lets you find out more about what it’s like to live and study in this vibrant, dynamic capital city.
You’ll live and learn like an undergraduate student, staying in student accommodation and studying with a taste of the independence and responsibility you’ll have as an undergraduate. This will help you to prepare for your future university career.
Our exciting programme of activities and excursions lets you explore British culture and history during your time with us.
You might have the opportunity to see one of London’s world-famous musicals in the West End, visit notable museums such as the Natural History Museum or the British Museum, and try out traditional British activities such as going for afternoon tea.
In your free time, you’ll have the chance to explore the city with a small group of friends, so you can find out more about life in London based on what interests you most.
