Through engaging workshops and masterclasses, students are able to experience Bologna to its full, enjoying its culture, history and heritage while developing themselves as individuals.
Embark on a journey through the rich history and culture of Bologna through a series of guided walking tours, museum visits, theatre trips and more. While wending your way through the city's porticoes with your tour guide, you will learn about this remarkable centre of culture and academia, and how, over the centuries, it has placed itself at the centre of Western thought. Art-lovers can take in the frescoes and paintings of the many galleries, while foodies can enjoy an unrivalled array of dishes cooked in true Bolognese style.
Are you ready for a gastronomic adventure of Italian proportions (and portions!)? On the Italian Cookery Masterclass, students learn to cook some of Italy's finest dishes, including pizza, pasta, and - of course - spaghetti bolognese. But that's not all - the Masterclass has a strong competitive element, with teams pitched against one another to produce the best dishes in a timely fashion! So roll up your sleeves, don your chef hats and test those leadership skills in the busy environment of an Italian kitchen.
The Bologna Summer School presents a unique opportunity to learn and use the Italian language, and students enjoy a Beginner's Italian Workshop at the very start of their course. This teaches students to meet and greet people in Italian, to order food and drinks and to ask for directions - everything they need to enjoy the remainder of their course.
In order to facilitate the improvement of teamwork skills, the Team and Confidence Building Challenge provides students with a series of puzzles, riddles and tasks to complete in small groups. Each task is uniquely different, meaning that every member of the group has the opportunity to input specialist knowledge to aid the completion of the activity. This interactive workshop refines both confidence and teamwork skills, two fundamental skills for future success.
Building on Italy's history of producing the world's finest orators, from Caesar to Cicero, the Bologna summer school encourages students to improve their public speaking through a series of workshops and exercises. The Oratory Contest is the culmination of these informative lessons and skill sessions, during which pupils create their own presentations to perform to their peers with confidence, clarity and coherence. The activity ensures that students are able to practise this important life skill in a supportive environment.
Mind Gym aims to alter thought processes by shifting core beliefs through positive thinking techniques. With the application of positive proactivity, the session encourages participants to change thinking and attitude approaches, ensuring they are provided with useful strategies to cope with future stress.
