Summer 2015 in Words and Pictures

We’re more than halfway through this year’s summer school, which stretches all the way from 7 June to 15 August.
Our brilliant summer bloggers have been doing sterling work recording all the learning, fun and excitement happening across our seven campuses. Here’s a quick look at some of the best quotes and pictures from the summer school so far.

Tenrec
Zilei, from China, held a tiny tenrec when the Animal Man came to Yarnton Manor.
Archery
Where better than the grounds of a 17th-century manor house to practise archery skills?

“I was feeling quite homesick when I arrived, but the counsellors made me feel so welcome and at home here and the other students became like my second family. Everyone here makes an effort to make you feel happy.” – Hana, Broadening Horizons, Saudi Arabia

Lemur
Counsellor Pip was concentrating on taking photos of lemurs at Woburn Abbey when suddenly one jumped on her back.
London Bridge
Students posed in front of Tower Bridge on their trip to London.
Party
Looking glamorous ahead of our Roaring 20s-themed party.

“I wanted to come to ORA because I’d never been to a summer school abroad before and I wanted to try something new. It has been really fun to meet new people and socialise with them.” – Gurban, Introduction to Engineering, Turkmenistan

Union
The Gladstone Room in the Oxford Union is the perfect place to study Introduction to Leadership.
Selfie
Many students entered our #ORASELFIE competition to win an iPad. Maarten took a selfie with Blue, a kookaburra from our Birds of Prey workshop.

“I was in the drumming session which was a really good experience. We got to learn to play new instruments which made different sounds. The instructions were really passionate and we were able to express ourselves through the sound of the drums.” – Tomas, Introduction to Law, Portugal

Musical
Students posed for a photo during the interval of Mamma Mia.
Frisbee
Ultimate frisbee in University Parks got quite competitive.

“Every day I feel more comfortable with my colleagues in the Acting and Performance workshop. It is really fun and exiting. I can’t wait to see our play” – Dominique, New Perspectives, Argentina

Film Academy
All our Film Academy students loved the chance to shoot their own short films.
Punting
No trip to Oxford is complete without the chance to go punting in the sunshine.
