Session 1, Week 1: the Events of the Summer So Far

It’s been an exciting first week at the summer school this year.
Image shows students visiting Christ Church. We’ve had the Animal Man (with adorable chinchillas and less adorable bird-eating spiders) at St Peter’s, zumba classes at Jowett Walk, croquet at Balliol, punting at St Catz… and that’s just the beginning. Particular treats included the fantastic trip to London (with great seats at Les Miserables) and our club night at The Bridge, where students from different campuses had the opportunity to meet, mingle and dance the night away. And of course, we’ve been enjoying the World Cup – particularly our German students!
We’ve also been impressed by the strong start students have made in their classes. It’s been especially exciting to see ORA students all around the city trying out their artistic abilities on our ‘Scenes of Oxford’ workshop. Oxford’s beautiful architecture is at its best in the summer and it’s certainly made an impression on the students.

Here’s a selection of the things students and staff have said about the past week:

QuoteThere’s a great buzz on campus this year – I’m looking forward to a fantastic session – Morag, Junior Dean, Jowett Walk.

That was a lot of fun. Adventures now brewing at @OxfordRoyale – Dave Cornthwaite, Guest Speaker, Balliol, LMH and St Catz.

I feel like I’m learning all the time in Oxford, even when I’m not being taught – Ilin, student from Macedonia, LMH.

The variety is what keeps bringing me back year after year, no two days on campus are the same! – Moritz, Junior Dean, Jowett Walk.

Quote2I’m looking forward to improving my English speaking skills and meeting new people from around the world! – Pablo, student from Germany, St Peter’s.

There’s still a chance to join us for session 3 in August – take a look at our course options now ➙
