The venues have been booked, the decorations ordered and the playlists prepared – now all that remains is to decide what we’re going to wear!

Oxford Royale Summer Schools’s summer parties for 2014 have been confirmed – here’s the first half of what we’ve got planned, for students aged 13-15.
With two parties per session, there’s plenty going on. Session 1 will kick off with a Hawaiian-themed party in our Jowett Walk marquee, where students can sip delicious ‘mocktails’ and see how well they can limbo! The second party of session 1 will be in the glamorous ballroom of the Randolph Hotel, and will be appropriately Hollywood themed, complete with a casino.
For students attending session 2, they’ll be enjoying an Alice In Wonderland-themed party, again in Jowett Walk, with giant chess to give the impression of having been shrunk down to tininess, just like Alice – all the more appropriate since the writer of Alice In Wonderland, Lewis Carroll, was a lecturer at Christ Church here in Oxford. British Carnival will be the theme for the second party in the Randolph, with crazy mirrors, traditional sweet and old-fashioned side stalls, such as a coconut shy and hoopla – a feast for the senses and a fascinating insight into how people had fun in times gone by.

In session 3, we’re back to the Hawaiian theme for the first party, this time in the wonderful environment of St Peter’s College. And for the second party? How else could we round off our last session of the summer except by heading to the Randolph once more, and taking full advantage of its opulent atmosphere with a 007 Bond-themed event? There may even be a replica Aston Martin for the full spy thriller experience – don’t forget to dress to the sharp-suited standard that Bond would expect.
If you’re aged 16-18 and you want to know what treats we have in store for you, check back here this time next week to learn all about the second half of our magnificent party plans.
