Medicine Summer Course at Yale (Ages 13-15)

Explore Medicine

The ‘Explore Medicine’ course provides young people with a broad introduction to the human body and mind on campus at Yale University. As part of the Medicine Summer School, students will explore the skills and knowledge they need to become a successful doctor, or nurse through a focus on human anatomy and physiology.

Students will explore the basics of human anatomy as they identify different career trajectories in the exciting fields of medicine and healthcare. They expand their understanding of medicine through practical, hands-on medical simulations like cannulation, conducting a physical exam, applying splints and slings, and controlling external haemorrhaging.

Students will investigate both the practice of medicine and biomedical research through speakers and visits to a university biomedical lab or research facility. Following two weeks of the Medicine Summer School, students will also strengthen their interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills – critical competencies of future medical professionals.

ORA is not just a summer program, it is a second family for students from all around the world. I honestly can't find the words to describe the amazing time I had those two weeks. The lifelong bonds that I formed with students from almost every country of the world, will accompany me as I grow up. Moreover, the staff and counselors were there to guide me throughout this beautiful journey, as I knew that I could count on them for whatever I needed. The lessons were excellent and easy to understand, as the teachers thoroughly explaind everything being taught, while simultaneously making every lesson enjoyable and fun. To sum up, ORA is a place for everyone to evolve and gain independence in a safe and protected environment. ORA is a family.
