Course Summary

We face many sustainability challenges today, and this two-week series of workshops is designed to equip students with some of the skills required to tackle some of them. Sustainability is a multidisciplinary field, and these skills are transferable across many disciplines. The workshops will cover the foundations of basic research and scientific methodology, which will then develop into technical software skills by learning how to map data using QGIS.

During the latter half of the workshops you will be given the opportunity to apply your newly acquired skills. In groups, you will identify a Sustainability Challenge and come up with a solution to present to the class.

What will you get out of studying Sustainability Challenge?

If you choose Sustainability Challenge, you will improve your ability to write a persuasive argument and your scientific writing skills, through workshops involving debates, proposals and funding applications. By the end of the course you will have also applied your newly acquired skills to deliver a group presentation; your solution to an identified Sustainability Challenge. This course will not only equip you with the skills and experience to help you progress in your further studies or future career, but also that it will empower you to strive towards a more sustainable you.
