A Very Merry Christmas from Oxford Royale Summer Schools…and an Exciting 2018!

The snow has (sadly) melted, but we are hopeful of another flurry before Father Christmas lands on our roof (we do hope he’s careful, the Manor is over 400 years old after all.)
In amongst all the wrapping paper and ribbon, we are taking the time to reminisce about 2017 and all the wonderful goings-on at Oxford Royale Summer Schools.
We were surprised and pleased to welcome over 3400 students from 135 different nationalities to our award winning summer school programmes in 2017 – more than ever before. But can we beat our own record next year?
We’re told by the Oxford Dictionary that the word of the year for 2017 is “youthquake.” Given that every year our students take over the cities of Oxford and Cambridge, spill over into London, and spend the summer raising a joyful havoc in all sites, we’d say the word is entirely appropriate. The students’ energy and enthusiasm for everything they do is infectious, and we look forward to welcoming new faces and returners in 2018.

The University of St Andrews will welcome students to Scotland in 2018.

We were also excited to announce that we will be expanding our course and location offering for 2018. Imperial College London, St Catharine’s College Cambridge, and the University of St Andrews in Scotland have all agreed to host our summer school programmes next year, and we couldn’t be more thrilled. We will also be accepting 13-15 year old students at Cambridge sites for the first time ever, and with the exciting new Business Discovery and Coding Discovery courses on the cards for 8-12 year old students we have a feeling next year’s youthquake will be off the Richter scale.
Tired jokes aside, our 19+  students were some of the luckiest we have ever had this summer. With an academically choice programme and excursions to such delights as Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons, Silicone Roundabout, and the London Stock Exchange – not to mention a lock-in at the Ashmolean Museum after hours – there has been something for everyone at Oxford Royale Summer Schools this year.

Anton Lesser appeared in “The Other Door”, a short film by the Future Filmmakers.

This year’s Gap Year students produced some impressive work, most particularly our September term students. The production of the Future Filmmakers programme’s short film, “The Other Door”, was an event much talked about before and after, with the wonderful Anton Lesser of Game of Thrones fame making a candid appearance, which left everyone a little star-struck.

You too could spend a term studying in Yarnton Manor to prepare for IB or University.

The icing on the 2017 Christmas cake came when Oxford Royale Summer Schools was shortlisted as a finalist in both the Education Investor Awards and the British Youth Travel Awards – the latter of which saw us sweeping the Silver Medal in the Best Educational Product category at a glittery awards ceremony in London. Next year we’re going for gold!
