Travelling by air

The most convenient airports for Cambridge are listed below. We recommend searching online to find a flight that suits your requirements.

• Heathrow (approx. 1.5 hours travel time)
• Gatwick (approx. 2.5 hours travel time)
• Stansted (approx. 3.5 hours travel time)
• Luton (approx. 2 hours travel time)
• Birmingham (approx. 1 hour travel time)

Travelling by train - Eurostar

The Eurostar allows travellers from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Germany and the Netherlands to travel to the UK by train. The Eurostar arrives at St Pancras International station in the centre of London. Click here to book Eurostar tickets online.

Public Transport

Information is correct at the time of publication, but you should always check the latest service availability with the public transport provider. We also recommend that you book any public transport in advance of travel to ensure availability on your chosen route.

• Travelling by Train – National Rail operates frequent services linking London with all major cities and airports in the UK. Direct rail services run between Long Paddington and Oxford Station, and London Marylebone and Oxford Parkway Station. Oxford Station is the best station for students staying in any of our Oxford colleges.
• Travelling by Coach – London Heathrow and Gatwick airports are linked to Oxford by The Airline coach service, which operates a direct, frequent service 24 hours a day. The National Express provides frequent services between all major cities and airports in the UK. The Oxford Tube operates a 24-hour service between Oxford and various destinations in central London itself. At busy times of day it runs every 10-20 minutes. This service does not serve the London airports mentioned above. Please note – providers have had to make adaptations to their services in response to the pandemic, and although they are beginning to return to a normal service, we strongly recommend you check the websites above for the most up to date information and timetables.
