Tech and Coding Summer School in Oxford

Has the world of tech ever been so exciting? This fast-moving field is defining the 21st century, affecting every part of our lives. Studying Tech and Coding with Oxford Royale Academy this summer lets you be part of it, giving you a head start on a range of fascinating careers.

Boost your career prospects by developing valuable tech and coding skills

In the modern job market, tech and coding skills are highly in demand, and that doesn’t seem likely to change any time soon. Developing these skills, even at an introductory level, can be valuable for your CV; you don’t have to be looking for a career that is focused on tech for skills in this area to be of benefit to you in future job applications. And if a tech career is what you’re aiming at, then our Tech and Coding programmes will help you get an early head start.

Tech and Coding is a rare field where – at least for the moment – the qualifications and experience you have is less important than the raw skills that you can demonstrate. Many employers still hire on the basis of skills tests, rather than the CV and interview process that is the norm in other areas. This means that developing your tech and coding skills can translate directly into improving your chances of accessing a great career in the years to come.

Compare experiences with peers from across the world

The technological revolution has made it much easier to talk to people from across the world, but we seldom have the opportunity to share experiences in as diverse a group as you’ll find at Oxford Royale Academy.

Students from over 150 different nationalities join us every summer. What’s fascinating is that even in an increasingly interconnected world, our experiences of tech can be radically different, such as the use of WeChat in China compared with Facebook across most of the rest of the world. The diversity of our programmes lets you compare your experiences with students from all around the world, and see how Tech and Coding can cross borders.

Live and learn like a university student

Our students live and learn like university undergraduates, often having the opportunity to stay in colleges of the University of Oxford. This offers a valuable taster of undergraduate life, which can help you to decide where you might like to study in future.

Our interactive model of teaching also reflects the approach taken by university tutors, where students are encouraged to speak up and share their thoughts and perspectives, and given more responsibility for their own learning.

Learn fun and interesting technical skills

Oxford Royale Academy’s Tech and Coding programmes cover a range of fascinating technical skills, from using programming languages through to constructing your own robot.

While you’ll learn the necessary theory behind Tech and Coding, our programmes also focus upon the hands-on skills that you can develop. This keeps our classrooms lively and means you definitely won’t get bored during your time with us! Our teachers can equip you with the tools to build on what you’ve learned after you leave us, so you can continue to develop your skills, and see where they might lead you.

Consider new perspectives on Tech and Coding

A consensus is increasingly being reached that when we develop new technologies – even if they seem inconsequential – we also bear responsibility for how they’re subsequently used. Tech and Coding, perhaps more than any other field, has changed the world in the past half a century, and the rate of change shows no signs of slowing down.

That’s why Oxford Royale Academy’s Tech and Coding programmes include the opportunity to consider the ethical implications of new and future technologies – from the impact of online shopping on the future of the high street, to the impact of artificial intelligence across every aspect of our society.

Follow in the footsteps of world-changing leaders in the tech field

Oxford has helped shape the modern world of technology: Sir Tim Berners-Lee, the man who invented the World Wide Web in 1989 and thereby shaped the internet as we use it today, was educated here, and remains a Professorial Fellow of the University of Oxford.

When you join us in Oxford, you follow in the footsteps of many other notable people in the world of computer science, including Reid Hoffman, co-founder of LinkedIn.
