One of the oldest academic subjects in the world, Law is intellectual, diverse and rewarding. It’s also alive and all around us: it governs us personally, economically and politically, and has the power to truly make a difference. Law asks big questions about the world we live in; it separates right from wrong, and it affects every single part of our lives. It relies on logic, facts and evidence to make life-changing decisions.
A subject popularly studied by some of our greatest world leaders – including Barack Obama, Margaret Thatcher, and Mahatma Gandhi – a background in Law provides endless career opportunities beyond becoming a lawyer, in diverse fields such as politics, social work, business and economics. You might go on to use Law to tackle our growing environmental problems or protect the rights of refugees.
London is the ideal city to live in whilst you get to grips with fundamentals of Law; you’ll get to explore a complex legal system that is constantly being updated and adapted, and you’ll be in the country that ‘common law’ originated from, with over a third of the rest of the world having a legal system based on it.
This course will provide students with an introduction to important legal concepts such as Business Law, Contract Law, Human Rights Law and Criminal Law, and also give an idea of what studying Law at university might be like – giving them a significant head start should they wish to pursue the subject academically.

Imperial College London’s enviable location in South Kensington gives you the best of everything London has to offer. At Oxford Royale Academy, we believe in learning through experiencing things first-hand.
Depending on students’ age and programme choice, they will have the opportunity to experience a variety of subject-specific activities and excursions.
Past field trips have even included the exciting opportunity to visit a real-life courtroom in London (and perhaps even see a real trial taking place)!
You’ll also participate in a mock trial with your classmates, taking on different roles as the case unfolds. You’ll go through the process of preparing your argument, researching precedents and legislation, and you’ll consider issues such as mitigation, jury bias and sentencing.
At ORA we’re proud to welcome students from over 150 different countries on our courses.
The benefit of this impressive multiculturalism is particularly apparent in the study of Law, as it differs so much from country to country.
This means that, by talking to your new friends, you’ll be able to compare how different law systems work as well as the effect this has on different societies – and you’ll hear it first-hand, not just from a textbook.
A distinct advantage to studying Law with Oxford Royale Academy is that you’ll gain the all-important edge over your peers when it comes to studying Law at university. Instead of spending time getting up to speed with the basics, you’ll be able to move on to more interesting aspects of the subject and challenge yourself further.
Moreover, before investing in such a competitive and demanding subject, you’ll have already figured out that it’s the one for you!
Our teachers will also support you throughout the application process, guiding you on how to write the best personal statement possible and how to prepare for tricky interviews for top law schools and firms.
On an Oxford Royale Aacademy Law in London course, you’ll develop your vital reasoning and argumentative skills, and learn how to present your ideas persuasively and confidently.
You’ll also develop practical transferable skills, including essay writing and public speaking, as well as get support in writing a strong personal statement and interview techniques for Law School entry.
“I found the ORA gap year course online, saved the link as ‘life saving course.’ What I needed the most was help with my UCAS application, but I also wanted to challenge myself intellectually and learn new things.”
