Course Summary

Organisations and businesses everywhere rely on effective Project Management to deliver quality products and services. The temporary practice concerned with creating a unique product, service or result is called a project. To ensure projects come to fruition under time and financial constraints, effective Project Management must be employed. Project Management is no easy task, due to the need to meet strict deadlines and budgets, so the science of its execution is a valuable skill. The contextual dynamics affecting project management can be grouped into five phases: initiation: planning; execution; monitoring; and controlling and closing.

This workshop series will equip students with strong working knowledge of the fundamentals of Project Management. The workshops are skills-based, which means students will gain real-world skills to manage any project, whether academic, personal or professional. Through immaculately designed practical projects, students will learn how to incorporate the five phases of project management to ultimately deliver a product or service. In doing so, they will consider project scope, stakeholder management, cost, time, quality, human resources and risk management, among other key factors of Project Management.

What will you get out of studying Project Management Skills?

By the end of the course, you will be proficient in developing a project work plan, creating a project budget, managing project risks and facilitating project development. You will also have gained vital teamwork skills from collaborating with your peers on your project. The workshops will finish with a presentation of your project, in which you will have the chance to highlight the five phases of project management.
