Cambridge is a wonderful setting for Oxford Royale Academy’s Arts programmes, with expert staff, beautiful architecture, and a host of inspiring sights to get your creative juices flowing. Learning alongside students from all over the world, studying with us in Cambridge will help you work out a path towards your future creative career.
Cambridge has been home to a remarkable number of great artists, from high art such as Booker Prize winners Iris Murdoch, AS Byatt and Kingsley Amis, to the many well-known alumni of Cambridge theatrical club Footlights, most famously including several members of Monty Python. You can live and study in the same colleges, walk the same streets and see the same sights as they did – and hopefully the city of Cambridge will inspire you as much as it did them.
In between classes, our busy programme of activities and excursions gives you time to get to know the city and its surroundings, to spend time with your classmates, and to unwind. That means that when you get back to your studies, you’ll be bursting with new ideas.
Whether you choose Art, Architecture, Photography, Creative Writing, Graphic Design or Drama, our teachers will help you refine your creative spark whilst developing your critical thinking skills and exposing you to the most cutting-edge ideas and methods in your chosen field. Encompassing both the theoretical and practical, you’ll explore new techniques and learn through group discussion and critique, case studies, project work and creative brainstorming.

Cambridge is well known as one of the best universities in the world, and has topped world league tables on several occasions.
With Oxford Royale Academy’s Arts programmes, you can live and learn in a college of the University of Cambridge, experiencing the lifestyle of a Cambridge undergraduate, staying in undergraduate rooms and studying in their halls. Not only is this an amazing experience in its own right, it can also give you confidence, when you come to apply to universities like this, that you already have a taste of how studying there might feel.
At Oxford Royale Academy, we take considerable pride in the quality of our teaching. Our teaching philosophy is that students learn best when their lessons are varied, stimulating and interactive, including plenty of opportunities to learn on trips outside the classroom, such as to museums in the city.
Oxford Royale Academy classrooms are lively, and every student is encouraged to speak up, and share their own unique perspective and experiences. In this way, students learn not only from their teacher, but also from each other. They also grow more confident in sharing their opinions, which is a vital skill for university study.
A vital part of all Oxford Royale Academy programmes is guidance towards your future career, and particularly advice on university applications. This is particularly important in the context of the Arts, where university applications can be more complex and deadlines can differ from other courses, requiring the presentation of a portfolio, and sometimes succeeding at interview too.
An Oxford Royale Academy Arts programme can help to guide you through these often difficult processes, so you’ll know what you’ll need to do to get on to the university course that will set you on the right path for your dream career.
Some Arts careers, such as architecture, have a relatively clear career path involving conventional steps such as university study, internships, and standard job applications. But in other Arts careers, such as film, or professional writing, the process for becoming established is not so clear-cut, can involve an element of chance, and may depend on soft skills such as networking as well as your artistic abilities.
Our teachers have considerable experience in what it takes to access these careers, from fashion to film-making, and they can advise you on the best approach for you to take in order to get there.
Our enrichment programme takes full advantage of all that Cambridge and the surrounding area has to offer. With London virtually on the doorstep, there are trips to see West End shows and the best of the capital city’s sights, which may help to spark some creative ideas as well.
Within Cambridge itself, there are museums such as the Fitzwilliam, which is a fascinating visit for budding artists, as well as classic Cambridge activities such as punting.
At Oxford Royale Academy, students don’t just learn during the time in the classroom, but also have the opportunity to see new things, practise their language skills and maybe even pick up a hobby in our busy schedule of excursions and activities.
