Cambridge is steeped in centuries of history, home to some of the world’s greatest thinkers, breath-taking architecture, and beautiful green spaces. But today isn’t just about admiring the view—it’s a chance to explore, learn, and let off steam in true summer school style.

With no academic classes scheduled, this day takes a different turn—one filled with cultural discovery, friendly competition, and memories you’ll be talking about long after the summer ends.

Rise and Shine – 8:00 AM

You start your morning with a delicious breakfast in the college dining hall—pastries, fruit, and a full English option if you’re hungry. Students chat about what the day holds: some are excited to see the legendary King’s College Chapel, others are already talking tactics for this afternoon’s Olympics in the Park. With your camera, water bottle, and sunglasses in tow, you’re ready for a day of adventure.

Guided Cultural Exploration – 9:00 AM

Today kicks off with a walking tour of Cambridge’s most iconic spots, led by your friendly Counsellors. First stop: the majestic Fitzwilliam Museum, where you marvel at everything from ancient Egyptian artefacts to Impressionist paintings. Next, it’s a stroll through the Cambridge University Botanic Garden, a peaceful green haven perfect for a few photos and a moment of calm.

The tour ends with a visit to the magnificent King’s College, where you learn about its history, its connection to some of the most brilliant minds in history, and, of course, its world-famous choir. Along the way, your Counsellors share fascinating facts and trivia—did you know parts of The Theory of Everything were filmed right here? The morning flies by, and by the end, you feel truly immersed in Cambridge’s cultural heartbeat.

Break – 11:00 AM

Time to relax and refuel. You and your friends grab a cold drink and a snack—maybe a croissant or some fruit—and find a sunny bench outside the college. Some students take a few minutes to journal or sketch in their notebooks, while others chat about what they found most interesting in the museums. There’s a quiet buzz in the air as everyone looks forward to the afternoon’s event.

Lunch Break – 1:00 PM

Some students stay close to college for a hot meal, while others head to a local café for a sandwich and smoothie. Whether you choose to dine al fresco in a nearby courtyard or indoors with friends, it’s the perfect chance to catch up, laugh, and talk about the highlights of the day so far!

Olympics in the Park – 2:00 PM

Let the games begin! Everyone gathers for a full-on school sports day–style Olympics. You join your team and take part in a series of mini-competitions: from three-legged races and tug of war, to sprints and sack races. There’s laughter, cheering, and maybe a bit of friendly rivalry as different teams face off in the ultimate test of speed, skill, and teamwork.

Even if sports aren’t usually your thing, the energy is infectious—and there’s always something fun to try. You might not win every round, but you’ll definitely come away with a medal-worthy memory.

Time to Unwind – 4:00 PM

Some students stop by the ice cream van on the way back to college, while others cool off in the shade with a book or a podcast. Whether you head back to your room to change and refresh, or sit out in the quad chatting to friends, the late afternoon offers a moment to recharge.

Dinner on Campus – 6:00 PM

Back at college, the dining hall is buzzing with energy. You sit down for a meal and chat through the day’s highlights. Someone recounts their victory in the wheelbarrow race; someone else shows off a hilarious video from the tug of war. The feeling is one of community and celebration, with everyone bonded by the day’s shared experiences.

Evening Activities – 8:00 PM

The evening brings a host of optional social activities to choose from. If you’re feeling lively, you might join the Debate Society for a lively exchange of ideas—today’s topic: “Should AI be trusted in education?” Or maybe you head to the Tabletop Championship, where you and your friends face off in a round of cards, chess, or Dungeons & Dragons.

For something more low-key, the Campus Cinema is showing a student-favourite film, and others gather in the common room to chat, play music, or just relax. Whatever you choose, the evening is yours to enjoy!

Lights Out – 10:30 PM

As the campus quiets down, you head to your room, tired but happy. It’s been a full day of discovery, fun, and connection, and you feel closer than ever to the friends you’ve made. Tomorrow brings new lessons, workshops, and adventures – and you can’t wait!
