“The Great Debate between Queen’s College and St Catherine’s was probably my favourite event due to the interesting topic that was discussed and the eager young minds who made it their mission to prove that their arguments were genuine and valuable.”
If someone had told me I would spend a part of my summer vacation in Oxford, I would not have believed them. It is the best decision I’ve ever made, and it brought along unforgettable memories…
The schedule students had to follow at ORA summer school was carefully structured. From morning and afternoon lessons, to enrichment programmes and various events – it was difficult not to have fun and enjoy every single activity. The classes were interesting and my teachers made it even more engaging by delivering the topics with such effort and determination. Every student had a chance to speak up, share their own opinion and discuss their ideas with other classmates. In one of the subjects I chose, Medical Biology, we had an opportunity to dissect a sheep’s heart. It still remains one of my favorite moments from this course. Overall, I felt challenged and satisfied with the academic results of my Broadening Horizons course.
As for all the activities we participated in apart from our lessons, there were many choices and sometimes it was difficult to choose. Should I go punting, on a Harry Potter film set tour or should I work on my written assignment in the homework club?

I made so many friends from all over the world during the two weeks I spent in Oxford. It was fascinating to meet so many new people and learn about their countries, cultures and traditions. Thanks to ORA, there was even a traditional dinner night where we enjoyed food from the Indian cuisine.
When you leave ORA in Oxford, the memories come in little pieces and details. I remember my presentation in Medical Biology, the experiment we had to design in Experimental Psychology, all the laughs in the JCR, the talent show in Shulman Auditorium, our trip to London, the graduation ceremony and the final party. I also remember certain feelings – pride for becoming a part of such an amazing community, excitement because of graduation, satisfaction when receiving the Effort Prize and sadness upon leaving Oxford and saying goodbye to my new friends.
But, that’s Oxford and in the end you always promise yourself, that you will come back someday, no matter how far away it may seem at that moment.
Thank you Oxford Royale Academy for this experience. I will cherish it forever.
“I learnt a lot from my academic immersion at ORA, not just about the topics of my selected courses, but also how to organise and express my thoughts in the most effective way.”
“I can truly say I have travelled to learn and I have learnt to travel. My two weeks in Oxford with ORA were unforgettable.”
“This summer school has taught me many things, including the basics of engineering, which will most definitely help me in my future – academically and professionally.”
