Law Summer School in St Andrews

Law demands your full attention. It’s intellectually demanding, rigorous and can often create more questions than answers. If you’re up to the challenge, choose Oxford Royale Academy’s Law Summer School in St Andrews, Scotland.

Make a difference and study Law in St Andrews

Law is integral to every society, without it there would be chaos. The study of Law has a long and fascinating history – ‘common law’ originated in the UK, 900 years ago – but it has always also been a vessel for societal change and modernisation, directly impacting people’s lives in big and small ways every day.

Using fascinating real-life case studies – both historical and recent – you’ll see the tangible effects of the ever-evolving British law in shaping the world as we know it. You’ll learn about classic cases such as the ‘snail in the bottle’, in which a snail unexpectedly found in a ginger beer created the basis of modern-day claims and compensation, as well as the ten-year ‘David v Goliath’ legal battle (officially the longest-running case in English legal history), which created the concept of the human right to a fair trial, after a giant corporation successfully triumphed over an unfunded individual.

At Oxford Royale Academy’s Law in St Andrews summer programme, you’ll start to think like a lawyer – you’ll sharpen your critical thinking and analytical skills and develop your ability to express yourself with confidence and clarity.

See Law in action

In addition to learning legal theory, it’s just as important to gain a sense of real-life Law in action.

On an ORA Law in St Andrews course, you will have the chance to go on exciting field trips. Past trips have even included visiting a real-life courtroom and watching a criminal case as it unfolds.

Make global friends

At Oxford Royale Academy, you’ll make lifelong friends from all over the world who you’ll learn from in lots of different ways. You’ll hear about how the law works in other countries and how it impacts societies, rather than simply reading about it in a book. This means you’ll be able to feed your curiosity and discuss all the questions you’ve ever wanted to ask.

Moreover, you’ll share special memories with your new friends and keep in touch with them for years to come.
