Course Summary

We are living in a digital era, in which the digital economy is continuing to experience exponential growth across organisations, governments and industries. Rapid developments in wireless technologies, the surge in internet connectivity and the proliferation of digital platforms and services have made it necessary for individuals to develop and enhance their digital skills. This necessity is motivated by the transformative nature of digital technologies, both in personal and professional life. Digital literacy is becoming an integral contributor to success in academic environments and the workplace.

These workshops will introduce students to a wide array of digital skills that will enable them to take advantage of digital technologies to further their academic, personal and professional pursuits. For the first project, students will learn how to process, analyse and visualise digital data, while considering important digital concepts such as user interface and user experience (UI/UX). For the second project, you will explore digital marketing. Students will create their own custom digital web- and/or mobile-based platform that markets a product of their choice. This will also enable students to understand important digital concepts such as search engine optimisation and its importance for digital platforms.

What will you get out of the Digital Skills Summer Course?

After completing the workshop series, you will be equipped with key digital skills that will enable you to navigate digital platforms productively. You will gain hands-on practical skills in developing digital platforms based on web and mobile platforms. Moreover, you will understand key digital platforms and how to utilise them for your own productivity and to advance your personal, academic and professional goals.
