Scholarship applications for 2019 are now open!|
Are you interested in a scholarship for our 2019 summer school? Good news: applications are now open.
Scholarships are available for Oxford Royale Academy’s award-winning summer school courses. Our two-week courses, located in prestigious and historic institutions across the UK, are designed to stimulate our students’ academic interests and promote their love of learning. Alongside lessons in subjects ranging from Medical School Preparation to Introduction to Fashion and Textile Design, each course includes a lively programme of excursions and extracurricular activities to enhance the student experience.
If you want to attend one of our courses but lack the financial means, a scholarship could help. For students who succeed in getting a scholarship, course fees will be reduced by up to 100%.
Late applications won’t be accepted, so make sure you get the form completed on time.
If you’re interested in applying, full details can be found on our Scholarships page. Read on for answers to some frequently asked questions.
Oxford Royale Academy scholars come in all shapes and sizes. We’ve had scholars from here in the UK, and others who have travelled thousands of miles to study with us. We’ve had scholars who impressed us with their outstanding academic achievements, and others who won scholarships on the basis of their drive, ambition, and the steps they’d already taken towards achieving their goals.
What’s important is to demonstrate how you would benefit from attending an Oxford Royale Academy course, whether that’s from a boost to your academic study, a chance to further a particular ambition that you have, or a particular way in which you would benefit from the chance to live and learn with students from over 130 different countries around the world.
First of all, your chance of getting a scholarship is zero if you don’t apply, and that includes not getting your application in by the deadline. So make sure to put the 3rd December in your diary and don’t forget to apply!
Beyond that important first step, read the instructions carefully, and make sure to fill in every section in full. We often find ourselves having to turn down otherwise promising students because they’ve left an important section blank, or only filled in one or two sentences where the application gives them a word count that implies a longer response. You don’t have to go right up to the word limit, but if we’ve requested up to 300 words, a 50-word answer is unlikely to be sufficient. It’s also important to be honest in your answers, as we may request references for shortlisted applicants. You should also check your eligibility for the courses you pick; if you’re 14, don’t choose courses for students aged 16 to 18. Many of our courses have an equivalent available for different age groups, so you should be able to find the course that’s right for you.
Finally, remember that we receive a very high volume of applications every year. Take some time to consider how you can make your application stand out from the crowd. We aren’t interested in gimmicks, but we do want you to think carefully not just about why you are deserving of a scholarship, but also why Oxford Royale Academy is the best option for you. Similarly, in your answer to the essay question, do your best to provide a thoughtful and original answer.
Our scholarships for the summer school are only available for students aged 13 to 18. If you’re younger than 13, please do keep our scholarships in mind for when you’re older. If you’re over 18, you might want to consider applying for our Thomas Garner Scholarships instead. They’re for students aged 17 to 19 who wish to take one of our 10-week Gap Year Programmes at our International Study Centre. These courses are ideal for students who want to give their knowledge and study skills a boost before going to university, with a diverse range of subject options available.
Not at all! We encourage students to select all the courses that they might be interested in, and you won’t be penalised for choosing several. What’s important is to think about why you feel these particular courses will benefit you. Make sure to read each of the course descriptions before you apply to make sure that you’re choosing the courses that are of greatest interest and relevance to you.
Oxford Royale Academy welcomes students from over 130 different countries on to our summer school courses, and our scholarship students are just as diverse. There are many different reasons why students may need financial assistance, whether it’s because of the overall economic situation in their home country, or their personal circumstances.
If you’re unsure if you qualify, please do submit an application. It may be that even if we judge that your financial circumstances don’t qualify you for a full 100% scholarship, we could still offer you a partial scholarship to reduce the fees you would need to pay for a course.
Though our summer school courses only last for two weeks, for some students, the experience is life-changing. We believe that no student should be denied educational opportunities on the basis of their background, finances or country of origin.
We aim to act on these values, such as through our charitable activities. We support the charity PEAS (Promoting Equality in African Schools), which aims to provide secondary school education to areas of Africa where it is not widely available, and we also sponsor EDTrust’s Headstart programme, which provides STEM taster courses to encourage young people into technology-based careers. Our scholarship programme is another way in which we endeavour to live the belief that no one’s financial position should stand in the way of their education.
