Understand the basic principles underpinning the study of business.
Business is now one of the most popular degree choices in the UK, as well as being one of the most popular options for international students studying in the UK. This course will help you to gain the knowledge and skills that will help you stand out from the crowd in a university application or job interview. The course will enhance your ability to think critically and conduct independent research into a topic – traits that are invaluable to modern business leaders.
The Business Gap Year Course is designed for aspiring entrepreneurs, company directors and managers who wish to extend their knowledge and understanding of the skills involved in business. It uses class discussion, debates, presentations, role plays and written work to explore topics that students might not have encountered before in their school experience, and to encourage students to think broadly around the concepts of business and enterprise. The course aims to be an interactive and challenging introduction to business theory, and so students are expected to get involved in discussions and to participate fully in class activities.
As well as academic concepts, students gain an insight into the practical side of running a business, exploring the cogs and gears that make a business run including accounting, finance, marketing, human resources and research and development. The Business Gap Year Course encourages development in wider skills essential to the successful running of a business through workshop topics such as business leadership, public speaking, critical thinking and debating.

About the Gap Year Programme
This course is part of the Gap Year Programme, residential in Yarnton Manor, near Oxford.
Students increasingly welcome some time to decide on their next steps before starting university or entering the workplace. They may choose to take up to a year off to travel, volunteer and explore new horizons. This is also known as a gap year. Those experiences undoubtedly provide valuable opportunities to acquire life skills. However, universities and employers also appreciate evidence of constructive academic development during a gap year.
Our 10 week Gap Year Programme enables students to achieve both. Our academic focus strengthens their profile for future university applications or career.
