Course Summary

During this two-week Climate and Sustainability course students will acquire the skills needed to understand the cutting-edge topic of environmental sustainability. You will learn about the drivers and impacts of man-made climate change, as well as understanding how research has helped to identify these. As part of exploring Sustainability, students will explore how technology, policy and humans can lead to a shift towards a more sustainable society.

The course takes a multidisciplinary approach, covering material across the traditional sciences, technology and social sciences. This will be utilised to interpret scientific pieces of work, to understand the current challenges and future directions of Sustainability. As Sustainability is a rapidly evolving field, there is constantly new information available to keep building upon.

Course Outcomes

What will you get out of the Climate and Sustainability Summer Course?

By studying Climate and Sustainability, you will improve your reflective writing and group work skills, as this course incorporates written and oral assessments. It is hoped that this course will not only equip you with the skills and knowledge to help you progress in your further studies, but also that it will empower you to become a more sustainable citizen who strives for a more sustainable society.

 

Expectations and Pre-requisites

No specific experience or skills are expected of students wishing to participate in this course, although a strong command of the English language is vital. We ask students to bring a laptop with them. If any additional course-specific equipment or software is needed, you will be notified in advance.
