Oxford Introduce New Oxford Pound In 2014 To Boost Local Business

Local Businesses in Oxford are expected to receive a boost from 2014 after plans to introduce a new Oxford Pound currency, according to the BBC.
The city is expected to follow the lead of Bristol with the introduction of a new scheme which aims to increase the small business trade in the city and keep money circulating in the local economy.
The Bristol Credit Union scheme has been hailed a success, with more than 1,000 members participating in the scheme and over £100,000 of deposits.
Discussions are currently undergoing between a group of small local businesses in Oxford and the Bristol group to discuss the feasbility of the scheme.
