Explore Medicine at ORA in 2016
Whether you dream of becoming a doctor or are a gap year student applying for medical school, we have a course to suit you.
After unprecedented demand, we have added new places to our Introduction to Medicine programme for students aged 13-15. Budding medics are invited to learn key scientific and practical skills which they are unlikely to have covered in school, as well as gain a unique insight into the core competencies required in the day to day life of a qualified doctor. Excursions include a visit to the oldest operating theatre in Europe, and The Royal College of Surgeons’ very own Hunterian Museum (fascinating, but not for the faint-hearted!). For older students, there are still limited places available on our Medical School Preparation course for 16-18s, which focuses more specifically on preparing a competitive application to study medicine at university.
For students who have already left school, our year-round International Study Centre offers a comprehensive Medicine Gap Year Programme. Students on the programme learn from expert tutors on topics such as anatomy, physiology, biochemistry and genetics, and are able to network with medical professionals at supper clubs and support groups throughout their time in Oxford. Practical sessions such as patient examination and heart dissection are also provided, and students who have not yet applied to their chosen medical school can benefit from targeted assistance in preparing for the BMAT and UKCAT examinations. Former students have successfully gone on to study medicine at eminent UK universities, and we look forward to welcoming a new intake for September 2016.
